Terms of Service

These terms cover your use of magneticdrum.co.uk. By registering an account or otherwise using the site, you agree to them. If anything here is unclear, email privacy@magneticdrum.co.uk before registering.

The service

magneticdrum.co.uk is a historic computing site: working emulators, courses, and historically grounded content built around machines like the LGP-30. The emulator cores themselves are free, open-source software, developed in separate repositories and licensed under the MIT License — using them doesn't require an account here. This website is a separate, paid product layered on top: a polished interface, curated content, and courses. Registering a website account is free; some content is available to any registered user, and some requires an active paid subscription. Which is which is noted on the content itself.

Accounts

You must be at least 13 years old to register. The details you provide (name, email address) must be accurate, and you're responsible for keeping your password confidential and for activity that happens under your account. One account per person — don't share logins.

Subscriptions & billing

Paid subscriptions are not live yet. Once they are, they'll be billed as a flat, inflation-linked fee with no promotional gimmicks or artificial urgency, and you'll be able to cancel at any time through a self-service billing portal. If a subscription lapses, content that requires it locks immediately — there's no grace period. This page will be updated, and your re-acceptance requested, before billing goes live.

Acceptable use

Use the site for its intended purpose: learning about and playing with historic computers. Don't attempt to bypass payment gates, scrape or republish paid content, interfere with the site's operation, or use automated tools against it beyond normal browsing. The emulator CLI is open-source specifically so you don't need to do any of that to get at the underlying tool — see the emulator repository.

Content & intellectual property

The website's design, curated program library, courses, and written content are proprietary to magneticdrum.co.uk and not covered by the emulator cores' MIT license. You're welcome to use the site for personal, non-commercial learning and enjoyment; you may not copy, redistribute, or resell paid content.

Historical content is researched carefully and sourced where practical, but this site is written by an enthusiast, not an academic institution, and mistakes are possible. Corrections are genuinely welcome — email the address above.

No warranty

The site is provided as-is. Historic emulation is a hobby project done carefully, not a commercial guarantee of accuracy or uptime. To the extent permitted by law, magneticdrum.co.uk isn't liable for losses arising from use of the site beyond fees you've actually paid for it.

Termination

You can stop using the site at any time. Account deletion isn't yet self-service — see the Privacy Policy for how to request it. Accounts used to abuse the site or violate these terms may be suspended or terminated.

Changes to these terms

If these terms change materially, registered users will be asked to review and re-accept them, the same way changes to the Privacy Policy are handled.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
